"The Mutt Mixer" Family (and Dog) Fun Day

at Allen WaySide Furniture Superstore, Route 1, Portsmouth

4:00 - 7:00 P.M.

A WICKED FUN way to to kick off the first day of summer with friends and your pups. It's the first-ever "Mutt Mixer Yappy Hour" hosted by Allen Wayside Furniture and Seacoast Bark magazine. A dog-friendly get-together to raise funds for animals in need, With food trucks, cold brews, family activities and plenty of music from us. It's BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog) if you like but everyone is encouraged to take part in the fun, dog or not. No admission fee. Raffles and other fundraisers on site. Proceeds benefit NHSPCA, Cochecho Valley Humane Society, and New England Lab Rescue. A BIG Woof!

SWING UNDER THE STARS with friends and family when you join us for an evening of great big band hits at the Lilac City's historic bandstand in the park. Bring a lawn chair or blanket be ready to tap your feet as we perform some of the best-loved tunes from the Great American Songbook. Easy to get to in the center of Rochester. the beautiful common and bandstand have been the scene for public concerts stretching back a century, and we're honored to be asked to perform. American Independence Day Festival and Fireworks

for Exeter Parks and Recreation Department,

ONE OF NEW ENGLAND'S TOP SUMMER EVENTS, this year's Independence Day Festival promises to be better than ever in the heart of historic Exeter. A full day of cool activities like re-creations of military encampments and battle scenes, re-enactments of the 1776 arrival of NH's first Declaration of Independence, an artisans village, museum tours, booming colonial cannons and battle scenes on the river, and much more. Plenty of food and drink and fun for the family. The day concludes with our swinging performance on the bandstand in Swasey Park. right up until sunset when one of the best fireworks displays around is touched off. No admission fee for the concert, so bring everyone and lounge in Swasey Park for an evening of big band music and then, KA-BOOM, bombs bursting in air! Concert on the Lawn

at Durham Pubic Library,

IT'S A BEAUTIFUL SETTING FOR SWING! On the lawn under the shade trees at Durham's public library. On Madbury road near the edge of the UNH campus, you'll enjoy a relaxing evening of classic big band hits in quiet Durham. (All the students are off on summer break:) Bring a chair or blanket and a picnic if you like. We'll supply the tunes and good time. No admission fee.

NEW HAMPSHIRE'S HAPPIEST SUMMER SPOT, the epicenter for fun by the ocean, it's the Sea Shell Stage at "Happy Hampton" Beach. The venue is superb, the ocean breeze refreshing, and the crowds are friendly and enthusiastic. We'll roll out the most popular big band tunes in history from the likes of Ellington, Basie, Miller, Dorsey, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Gene Krupa, Benny Goodman and more! Admission is always free. Seating is provided or you may bring your own lawn chair.  Here's the excuse you've been waiting for to make the trek to the beach and maybe chow down a double order of fried dough! 

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12

Sounds on the Souhegan

at Emerson Park,

Emerson Park is right on the beautiful Souhegan River in bucolic Milford. And Milford's "Sounds on the Souhegan" is one of New Hampshire's gems of a summer concert series. We're really looking forward to meeting some new friends in Milford and we hope you'll join us for an evening of big band swing. There's no admission fee. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket and a smile and we'll do the rest! In event of rain, the concert moves to Town Hall Auditorium.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 6

The Annual Jazz Concert

at St. Peters-By-The-Sea,

6:00 -7:00 p.m. with wine and cheese reception to follow.

The highlight of our season, this concert is performed in the historic St. Peter's chapel. (Now air conditioned!) Experiencing the Victorian-ear stone chapel itself is worth the trip, but we guarantee a concert program that is a joy too. (Note: this is not a religious service. Everyone is welcome to attend.) This concert usually sells out and tickets are available in advance. Following the concert treat yourself to complimentary wine, cheese and other refreshments on the rectory lawn overlooking the Atlantic. A special evening you're guaranteed to enjoy. We're pleased to return to the Rockingham County Nursing Home for another holiday concert. Although we're there to entertain residents and staff, the public is invited too. You'll find the concert in the beautiful atrium, found by parking in the rear lot and entering by the plainly marked entrance lobby. There's no charge, of course, and we hope you might join us and help us light up some lives during the holiday season.

Who says we're afraid of the dark and the cold? Not this big band, buddy! We'll proudly join the Seacoast's best holiday parade this year the Exeter affair. The theme is "Hollywood Hits" so you'll hear White Christmas for sure as we ride along on a humongous float right through the heart of historic Exeter. Arrive a little early and grab a spot near the gazebo in the middle of town for the best view. Sponsored by a whole bunch of nice Exeter businesses, the chamber of commerce and the all-vounteer Exeter parade committee. It's an old-fashioned blast!

Our community-serving partnership with Portsmouth's best watering hole, The Statey, continues -- this time to benefit HAVEN. This human services organization serves all adults and children affected by domestic and sexual violence. HAVEN is the largest violence prevention and support services agency in our State, and the need for help is rising! We'll provide two sets of jazz. You just bring yourself and some buddies prepared for good cheer (and some good grub if you wish.) No cover charge but a donation will be asked and every dollar given goes directly to HAVEN. One of a series of Blue Note Big Band donated performances to help people who need help.. Free parking. The Jazz Concert at St. Peter's, featuring trumpet virtuoso Jay Daly,

5:30-6:30 p.m. concert. Wine and cheese reception on the lawn follows.

Join us for a very special concert featuring jazz master Jay Daly performing his own tribute to the great American trumpeters. During Jay's 30-minute medley arrangement you'll hear all-time popular solos as performed by legends like Bix Beiderbecke, Roy Eldridge, Ziggy Ellman, Harry James and Louis Armstrong. There's even some Al Hirt and Herb Alpert too. With Jay's witty and informative narration, you are certain to love this program. Jay himself has been lead trumpeter in such lustrous bands as the Artie Shaw Orchestra and has performed with the Boston Symphony Pops among with his many other credits. We are thrilled to be able to accompany Jay and bring him to St. Peter's for this can't miss event. We'll also feature our own vocalist, the terrific Denise Therrien too. This concert is a must if you love jazz and expert musicianship!!

62ND ANNUAL YANKEE HOMECOMING, NEWBURYPORT

Yankee Homecoming Gala Concert and Fireworks, in Waterfront Park,

For many, the highlight of Newburyport's historic weeklong Yankee Homecoming festival is the Saturday night waterfront concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display. It will be our highlight this year, for sure, as we entertain the "Yankee Homecomers" from 7:15 right up until the fireworks at 9:15. This is a great family event, entirely organized by volunteers, in a wonderful seaport city. Vocalist Denise Therrien will wow you with all-time favorites from the Great American Songbook and modern hits too. And you can look forward to our traditional big band arrangements from the libraries of Basie, Ellington, Kenton, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich, Glenn Miller and many more. 

The terrific singer songwriter David Corson opens the concert at 6 o'clock. Just bring a lawn chair or blanket and the whole family. Food vendors on site. Admission is free. Perfect!
